Property Book Specialist
About the Position: The Property Book Specialist provides support to the Kimbrough Director of Administration Logistic Property Management in Fort Meade, MD, helping ensure consistent, high-quality patient care and facility operations. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Major duties
- Maintain accountability for Government property using DMLSS and property book records.
- Manage hand receipts, assigns equipment to authorized personnel, and keeps records current.
- Conduct required inventories, resolves discrepancies, and processes property-loss documentation.
- Receive, inspects, records, issues, transfers, and delivers medical and non-medical equipment.
- Manage excess, unserviceable, and turn-in property to ensure proper disposal and audit compliance.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance requirements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. One year specialized experience: A minimum of one full year of work experience as Property Book Specialist which includes: 1) Managing property accountability in automated systems; 2) Maintaining roster of hand receipts; 3) Verifying property book with inventory records; and 4) Ensuring all returned equipment is inspected. this definition of experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Logistics Management or Supply Management.
