Logistics Management Specialist
About the Position: This position is located within the Department of Logistics, Office Of The Chief at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Major duties
- Review and assess logistics operational shortfalls and identify opportunities for improvement in the logistics process.
- Plan, program and prioritize subordinate work requirements.
- Ensure all required equipment and supplies are on hand and designated personnel are selected, properly trained, and fully qualified to perform assigned duties.
- Conduct internal audits to validate that Logistics personnel are complying with procedural instructions and other published guidance.
- Develop requirements, maintain electronic records, and coordinate the physical disposition of all contingency stocks, including medical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Responsible for creating, reviewing, standard operating procedures (SOP), and updating logistics instructions.
- Develop and implement work performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes navigating automated logistics systems; resolving logistical support issues; and compiling data to generate reports and/or briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
