Industrial Hygiene Technician

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Defense Health Network Indo-Pacific, at Health Clinic, Camp Carroll, Republic of Korea. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

• Direct equipment maintenance programs within the Industrial Hygiene Division (IHD) to ensure analytical instrumentation complies with laboratory and field audit standards.
• Compose technical writing procedures and maintenance schedules for specialized field equipment to establish standardized formatting and operational reliability.
• Compile comprehensive equipment performance records to analyze operational histories and recommend future instrumentation purchases or upgrades.
• Perform specialized occupational health surveys, including audiometric test booth certifications and ventilation system assessments, to identify and document workplace hazards.
• Provide technical consultation and instrument operational training to IHD personnel to improve equipment proficiency and field sampling accuracy.
• Operate motor vehicles to transport sensitive environmental samples and diagnostic equipment safely to lab and field inspection sites.
• Upload sampling and inventory information into the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS) to maintain standardized occupational health databases.
• Develop exposure tracking reports and historical sampling summaries to evaluate occupational hazard levels and facilitate workforce exposure records.
• Coordinate medical surveillance scheduling with Occupational Health Practitioners to align medical monitoring activities with documented worker hazard exposure levels.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes calibrating Industrial Hygiene monitoring equipment; preparing reports using automated systems; assisting Industrial Hygienist evaluating potential health hazards; and training employees in safety or occupational health subjects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as, Industrial Hygiene, Safety & Occupational Health Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
