About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Financial Technician in a Medical Treatment Facility, supporting essential financial operations. Working in a professional office with a full-time schedule, duties include bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and processing pay documents. The role builds foundational skills in federal accounting and budgeting while contributing to the financial integrity and readiness of the healthcare mission. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

  • Examine, verify, maintain accounts and accounting data to prepare and analyze reports.
  • Maintain ledgers and compiles, consolidates, checks and arranges funding in support of budget analysis and administration technician work.
  • Provides receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody of cash items when handling cash items or during duties that require the use of cash accountability control methods.
  • Examines documents such as invoices, vouchers and related documents for accuracy, adequacy, compliance with regulations for goods and services provided or by the government.
  • Determine pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports that pertains to civilian employees.
  • Establishes, maintains, corrects and/or closes pay accounts for active, reserve or retired service members and their dependents.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with the examination and verification of reports from accounting systems; 2) Using budget codes to track basic financial transactions; and 3) Balancing and computing data from financial records to assist in preparing reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
