Strategic Procurement Manager
As a Strategic Procurement Manager in the retail industry, based in Chester, you'll oversee procurement activities to ensure efficient supply chain operations and cost-effective purchasing. By building strong supplier relationships and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives, you'll play a key role in supporting the organisation's goals. They are now going through an exciting period of growth within the procurement team. Description What the main responsibilities of the strategic Procurement Manager will look like:
Develop and execute sourcing and category strategies.
- Drive cost analysis and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
- Create and apply effective negotiation strategies.
- Conduct scenario-based analysis, benchmarking, and market research.
- Anticipate supplier power shifts and optimize sourcing processes.
- Support budget development and management.
§ Deliver GNFR procurement savings targets.
- Manage supplier contracts, KPIs, and SLAs.
- Lead and develop direct reports (as required).
- Build strong cross-functional stakeholder relationships to ensure policy compliance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO, ESOS, CSR, GDP, etc.).
Profile A successful Strategic Procurement Manager should have:
Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes within the retail industry. Proven experience in strategic sourcing and supplier management. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. The ability to analyse data and identify cost-saving opportunities. A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. Experience working in a hybrid environment, with both office and remote work. Job Offer What the Successful Strategic Procurement Manager can expect:
Salary of £55,000 - £60,000, dependent on the level of experience. 25 days holiday leave. Medi-cash benefit. 10% discretionary bonus, consistently paid out over the last five years. Hybrid working model: 3 days mandatory in the Runcorn office, 2 days working from home.
