We are now looking for a material coordinator for interior materials to join the Architectural Accommodation department, which operates as part of the Hotel Design unit!

Our Hotel Design unit is responsible for the appearance and design of all public spaces on the ship. This includes cabins, cabin areas, public spaces (such as theaters, restaurants, and crew public spaces), hotel technical spaces, and architectural outdoor areas. The unit is responsible for implementing the design of the architectural material provided by our customer within the framework permitted by rules, regulations, and the agreed level. We are also responsible for designing the routing, location, and placement of various systems, as well as coordinating the openings required for hull design.
The Architectural Accommodation department is responsible for architectural systems and coordinating the basic design of interior areas. Additionally, the group has ADA, delivery documentation, IHM, 3D, and Sustainability specialists.
As part of the Architectural Accommodation department, our Material Coordination team is responsible for the basic design of spaces visible to passengers and crew and the procurement of certain materials – your role as part of your team is to ensure that the related procurement packages remain under control in a multi-project environment. Spaces include, for example, cabin area corridors, the hospital, and the bridge.
Job Description:
Your task includes managing the entity designated as the material coordinator. We operate in a multi-project environment, meaning you will participate in the stages of several different ship projects from start to finish as the person responsible for the task entity. We implement architectural solutions according to shipbuilding rules and regulations.
Your task is to coordinate the procurement of interior materials and furniture for the areas built by the shipyard as part of a team. Materials to be procured include, for example, ceiling and wall materials, railings, curtains, and WC materials. You will prepare technical specifications and boundaries for procurements, prepare tender material with attachments, and be responsible for requirement and delivery schedules. Procurements are carried out in cooperation with a buyer.
In this role, you are responsible for budgeting and the monitoring and management of costs related to procurement packages. Forecasting as well as development and savings measures are part of your responsibility.
The role involves strong communication with various actors. You will participate in negotiations as an expert of the entities. Investigating the ecological nature and suitability of materials for their intended use is your responsibility, and you will have solutions and implementation approved by our customer and production as needed.
In addition to material expertise, the task requires an understanding of technical requirements and solutions.
Your work tasks within the group will be shaped and developed according to your experience. We are now looking for a person to grow into a responsible position.
What we expect from you:
We are looking for an active person for our team who is capable of acting as an efficient and positive link between their own group, other departments, the customer, architects, and the area builder. You have good command of scheduling and are able to work independently with several different parties simultaneously.
You have the ability to work in a hectic multi-project environment, which in turn requires the ability to plan your own time usage according to project needs.
The skill and vision to operate in the customer interface, which involves negotiations and daily interaction with the shipyard's project department, basic design, and interior outfitting departments. The work also includes negotiations and information exchange with material suppliers throughout the projects. You will represent the best expertise of the system within the shipyard organization.
Knowledge of interior materials and suppliers commonly used in the shipbuilding industry, cost knowledge, and knowledge of shipbuilding rules and requirements will be considered an advantage.
Proficiency in the following software: Excel and other Office programs, SAP, Kronodoc /Wave, AutoCad / some 3D program.
You are proactive, take initiative readily, and want to be part of creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Experience in project coordination and suitable education for the task will be an advantage. Additionally, you need good oral and written English language skills.
Experience in shipbuilding is considered an advantage, but we will grow you into a shipbuilder under the guidance of experienced experts.
Please note that we require the selected person to pass a drug test and have suitability for the duties of the employment confirmed in a health examination.
