Job Description:

As a Ship Safety Specialist, you will act as a subject matter expert in the implementation of international vessel safety rules and regulations during the design process, ensuring the safe operation of the vessel for passengers and crew. You will participate in the development of ship concepts and sales projects and assist the project organization in the execution of newbuilding projects together with other experts in the Naval Architecture Safety team. During the commissioning of a project, you will coordinate the required authority inspections and support our commissioning organization as needed.

As a Ship Safety Specialist:

• You coordinate and design the primary safety arrangements of new ship concepts, e.g., escape route reviews, authority reporting, mapping of international regulations, and you perform evacuation analyses
• you negotiate with shipyard customers, classification societies, flag states, and other authorities
• you participate in preparing the technical tender documentation for classification agreements
• you act as a subject matter expert for ship safety and regulations during the basic design and newbuilding phases
• in the final stage of the project, you participate as an expert in the vessel's certification and authority inspection processes
• you follow industry developments in international working groups and advise and guide shipyard personnel.

What we expect from you:

We hope that you have suitable technical education (e.g., DI/ins.). Knowledge of ship safety, rules, and regulations, as well as ship technology and systems, will help you get started in the job.

To succeed in this role, you also need negotiation skills, systematicity, and the ability to grasp complex wholes. Additionally, you need good oral and written English language skills as well as good cooperation and presentation skills. Furthermore, we hope that you have good IT skills and familiarity with CAD tools.

Previous experience in the field or knowledge of other specialized areas of ship technology is considered an advantage, but we also consider recent graduates, as we grow shipbuilders under the guidance of experienced experts.
