Introduction
We are looking for a Senior Application Specialist, SAP Finance to work within our Finance Application Team in Metso IT . This is an exciting opportunity for the SAP Senior Specialist with a passion to support the function through Information Technology development. Your key role will be to support and develop our SAP S4 solution. You coordinate development and support activities with our key stakeholders (implementation partner and external partners in an outsourced model).
Every time Metso sells a crusher to a mine in Chile, ships spare parts from a warehouse in Germany, or invoices a service contract in India, the SAP system has to support the business processes and allow the needed financial transactions. That logic spans tens of company codes across 51 countries and cuts across FI, MM, and SD. We are looking for a Senior application specialist to help build, maintain, and improve it. You will be based at our Espoo headquarters or Tampere office, working closely with the finance SAP team.
What you’ll do
Participate in IT tools and processes development, implement chosen development practices and IT & digital development model (e.g. DevOps, ITIL based) and seek ways to leverage agility and speed with development.
Collect and document requirements, perform functional analysis, design, build/test/document solutions as required, and perform knowledge transfers to stakeholders.
Coordination of development activities across SAP consultants, developers, integration teams, and external partners.
Manage and prioritize application development backlog together with business stakeholders, Product Owners, and Business Solution Owners.
Identify opportunities for process standardization, automation, and simplification.
Implement and improve DevOps, Agile, Jira, ITIL, and release management processes.
In key developments, you will support application testing, including SIT and UAT regression testing.
Who you are
Senior-level expertise needed to take ownership of complex SAP Finance topics from day one:
Proficiency in Finance and Controlling (SAP FICO), other domain knowledge is a big advantage
Previous knowledge and experience in ECC / S4 HANA throughout the application lifecycle, with at least 5+ years of experience. Experience in configuring SAP S4 HANA Finance.
Extensive hands-on SAP FiCo experience, preferably 5+ years, with demonstrated ownership of configuration, solution design, testing, and production support in complex business environments.
Advanced SAP FI/CO configuration expertise across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, cost center accounting, internal orders, and profit center accounting, with the ability to design scalable and sustainable solutions.
Strong end-to-end SAP S/4HANA Finance process understanding, controlling and profitability analysis (COPA) including integration with MM and SD, period-end closing, reporting, troubleshooting, and the ability to translate business requirements into robust FI/CO design decisions.
The ability to assess custom ABAP logic is an advantage and technical design from a functional finance perspective, identify process or posting impacts, and work effectively with developers and integration specialists.
Solid understanding of indirect tax and VAT determination principles, with the ability to evaluate their impact on finance postings, compliance reporting, and cross-module process design.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluent English and the capability to lead discussions with business users, IT colleagues, implementation partners, and external service providers.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
