CO2 emissions in the real estate sector must be reduced quickly. But what is not measured cannot be controlled in a targeted manner: Our live data on consumption and generation in real estate enables a maximally effective use of electricity, gas, heat, and water in everyday life. We are a young Berlin scaleup that supports sustainability and lives it in our daily business operations. To support our team, we are looking for a Software Developer at the Berlin location at the earliest possible date. You will become part of a small team of experienced backend developers and work on an existing production codebase of complex logic based on real measurement data and the requirements of the German energy market.

Tasks

  • You develop new backend functions and expand TypeScript services that capture, process, and provide measurement data on our platform.
  • You revise and optimize existing code and remove technical hurdles when they slow us down.
  • You improve the correctness and performance of measurement data processing as the load on our platform increases.
  • You investigate problems in production operations, fix discrepancies in system behavior and data, and contribute to subsequent improvements to reduce recurring problems.
  • Over time, you will take responsibility for parts of the system, working based on defined requirements, under guidance if necessary, and contributing to improving their reliability, observability, and maintainability.

Profile

  • You bring at least 3 years of professional experience in backend development, including the creation and maintenance of backend services in production operations as well as REST-APIs with TypeScript and Node.js.
  • You have practical experience dealing with relational data models and SQL, ideally PostgreSQL, and are familiar with working in Linux, the terminal, and with Git.
  • You possess a pragmatic mindset, avoid unnecessary complexity, can distinguish between "bike-shedding" and truly important decisions, and prefer proven technologies over hype if they better support maintainability, reliability, and deployment.
  • You feel comfortable working with existing backend systems, are willing to familiarize yourself with domain-specific areas such as measurement data processing and Smart Metering, and are interested in understanding the behavior of systems in production operations.
  • Fluent English skills in speaking and writing are required; German is an advantage.
  • Frontend experience, for example with Vue, is a plus but not a must.
  • Experience with the German energy market, time-series or IoT data, as well as asynchronous and background processing is desirable.

What we offer you

  • A job that creates the foundation for using energy and water sustainably and consciously.
  • Permanent employment with a fixed salary between 55 - 65 k EUR.
  • Flexible trust-based working hours, part-time option, at least two days of mobile work per week, individual development opportunities, and regular feedback meetings.
  • Deutschlandticket or Jobrad as well as an office with very good public transport connections.
  • A green office, terrace, and free drinks.
  • Complete technical equipment.
  • 30 vacation days/year.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Family-friendly approach to reporting short-term illnesses of children.

We desire an open and respectful togetherness in a diverse team! If you want to become part of it, we look forward to your application.
