An important part of the business is in-house product development, where hardware and software are developed together to create security solutions with high requirements for reliability, performance, and energy efficiency.
At Verisure's Research & Development department in Malmö, several different engineering disciplines work together on the development of the company's connected security products. Here, expertise exists in areas including embedded software, electronics, connectivity, and camera technology, with development spanning from image processing and Wi-Fi to real-time systems and low-energy communication.
You will become part of an experienced team of around nine people with specialist expertise in different parts of the product. The team is working on several new products and is simultaneously undergoing a shift in hardware platform. This means that you will enter the development early and have the opportunity to influence technical choices from the start. Here, you will work closely with colleagues possessing deep technical competence in a flat organization, with great room to contribute your own ideas and influence technical choices.

About the role
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Verisure, you will work with the product development of the company's camera and surveillance solutions. You will primarily work with development in C and will have the opportunity to work broadly with the product, from low-level development and technical problem-solving to system architecture, design, and technical choices.
An important part of the role is working with the design of the software as new products and hardware platforms are developed. This includes, among other things, creating solutions where new components and functions can be introduced over time and building a structure that can be further developed between different product generations.
The work takes place in an environment with RTOS, resource-constrained hardware, and wireless communication. You therefore need to be able to understand how different parts of the system affect each other and reason around technical trade-offs regarding, for example, performance, memory usage, and power consumption. The role suits you who enjoy going deep technically, but at the same time want to work more broadly with the product and help influence the technical choices behind it.
About you
We are looking for someone who has solid experience in embedded development and a deep understanding of system architecture in embedded products. You are accustomed to low-level development and have, through previous projects, worked with technical design and choices at a system level. We would love to see that you have participated in designing systems or software platforms for new products, where scalability and the ability to further develop the solution over time have been an important part.
As a person, you are curious, communicative, and self-driven. You enjoy discussing technology with others and like to contribute new perspectives and ideas. At the same time, you are humble regarding others' competence and thrive in an environment where different technical specialist areas meet.
For the role, we expect you to have:
Solid experience in embedded development in C
Deep knowledge of system architecture for embedded products
Good experience with RTOS and real-time systems
Experience with MCUs and resource-constrained embedded systems
Experience with low-level development
Experience with wireless communication, for example Wi-Fi or sub-GHz
Good communication skills in English
It is a merit if you also have experience with Embedded Linux or developing scalable software solutions for embedded products. We view experience from environments where software needs to be able to be further developed and reused when new products or product generations are introduced particularly positively.
