Head of Risk

& Governance

Location: North West Salary: c.£90,000

I’m currently working on a Head of Risk & Governance opportunity with a growing and well-established financial services group.

The role sits within the 2nd Line Risk & Governance function and will have responsibility for developing and maturing the Group’s risk and governance framework across multiple business areas.

You’ll have a broad remit covering enterprise risk, operational resilience, governance, third-party risk and financial crime , with regular exposure to senior stakeholders, the Executive team and Board.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the development and ongoing maturity of the Group-wide Risk & Governance framework
• Developing risk strategy, appetite, registers and reporting across the Group
• Leading on operational resilience, including oversight of testing, controls and remediation
• Developing and maintaining risk MI and reporting for the Executive team, Board and relevant committees
• Leading the Group’s third-party risk management approach
• Overseeing risk events, incidents, issues and control improvements
• Owning the Financial Crime Policy and supporting the Group’s AML framework
• Providing risk advice and challenge across the business, helping to embed a strong risk culture
• Working closely with Internal Audit, Compliance and senior business stakeholders
• Horizon scanning and keeping the Group up to date with relevant regulatory and industry developments

What they’re looking for:

• Significant experience within Risk , ideally gained within the insurance sector
• Strong understanding of FCA regulation and regulated environments
• Experience developing and embedding risk frameworks and governance arrangements
• Strong knowledge of risk assessments, controls, risk appetite and operational resilience
• Experience operating at a senior level and influencing stakeholders across a business
• Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills
• A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and drive projects through to completion

This would suit someone who is looking for a senior 2nd Line Risk & Governance position with a broad remit and genuine ownership across the Group .
