Mental Health Supervisor - Aswan
Main Purpose: Participate in the planning, supervision and coordination of mental health / pycho-social related services in the programme in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients.
Accountabilities: Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the MSAM and other medical team members including MAM, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in Mental Health MSF programs and activities.
Coordinates activities of counseling services with other relevant actors and liaises with the local counterparts (like MoH, WHO, ICRC and NGO) on mental health matters, including referral services.
Supervise the daily mental health activities and patient support according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with psychosocial needs
Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.
Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, MSAM and MAM, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.
When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
Compile the data and statistic linked with MH activities and report to the MSAM.
Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors in collaboration with the MSAM.
Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential
Specific Accountabilities: Support MSF’s Aswan project team in developing and implementing the mental health strategy in close collaboration with the MSAM, as well as MAM and other key staff.
Supervise the team technically by conducting regular shadowing, trainings, case discussions and meetings to enhance service quality in coordination with the MSAM and MSF psychiatrist.
Design curriculums for MHPSS groups (including psychoeducation, counselling and PSEC groups) and support staff with implementation.
Collaborate with the health promotion (HP) team, including cultural mediators, HP officers and supervisor to ensure proper implementation of activities related to MHPSS.
Support the development and implementation of, and adherence to, standard protocols for the care and treatment of people with mental health needs, together with MSAM.
Support the training of MSF and partner medical and paramedical staff on basic mental health knowledge and management with a focus on holistic care.
Carry out related administrative processes including ensuring proper data collection is done for all mental health activities, regular and ad hoc reports are completed and submitted, and needed resources and materials are requested.
Education Bachelor of Psychology Master’s degree or diploma in clinical psychology is an asset Additional certification or specialized training in mental health or psychosocial support preferred
Experience Minimum two years’ experience working as a clinical psychologist required Experience providing mental health groups desired Experience working in MSF or other NGOs is beneficial Experience in trauma-informed care or crisis intervention is an asset 2 years’ experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team desirable 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable populations is an advantage
Languages Written and spoken English. Written and spoken Egyptian/Middle Eastern Arabic

Job Conditions: Location: Aswan, Egypt.
Contract type: Fixed-term Contract – Full-time (working hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm)
