Cambridge | £50,000 – £55,000 + Bonus & Excellent Benefits Hybrid Working | Clear Progression into Financial Advice

Are you an experienced Paraplanner looking to take the next step towards becoming a Financial Adviser?

We are working with a leading international wealth management business to recruit an Associate Wealth Planner for its Cambridge office.

This position has been specifically designed as the bridge between paraplanning and financial advice. You’ll continue to use your technical expertise while working closely with an experienced Senior Wealth Planner, gradually taking on greater client-facing and advisory responsibilities as you progress through the firm’s Training & Competence framework.

It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who feels ready to move beyond a purely technical paraplanning position, but wants to make the transition into advice within a structured and supportive environment.

The Role

You will initially combine high-level paraplanning responsibilities with increasing exposure to clients and the advice process.

Once appropriately authorised and certificated, you will begin providing less complex advice to existing clients, including annual reviews, ISA investments and pension top-ups, while continuing to work alongside and receive support from a Senior Wealth Planner.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with a Senior Wealth Planner to support existing client relationships
  • Supporting and increasingly conducting client meetings and ongoing service reviews
  • Providing less complex financial planning advice once appropriately authorised
  • Supporting annual reviews for ongoing and drawdown clients
  • Undertaking detailed technical research to support holistic financial planning recommendations
  • Preparing high-quality suitability reports and client communications
  • Producing calculations and cashflow modelling to support recommendations
  • Identifying potential future planning opportunities and discussing these with the Senior Planner
  • Supporting new business processing, client onboarding and valuations where required
  • Maintaining accurate client records, including updates through XPlan
  • Developing the client relationship, presentation and commercial skills required to progress into a Wealth Planner position

The role genuinely combines paraplanning with entry-level planning responsibilities, with the successful individual progressively providing advice as they become appropriately authorised and competent.

About You

This opportunity would suit an experienced Paraplanner who has developed a strong technical foundation and is now looking for a genuine route into advice.

You will ideally have:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning , or equivalent
  • Around 3–5 years’ paraplanning experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial planning products and FCA-regulated advice
  • Experience undertaking research and preparing suitability reports
  • Experience with cashflow modelling and financial planning software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong numerical ability and attention to detail
  • The confidence and interpersonal skills to develop into a client-facing adviser
  • A genuine ambition to progress into financial advice

Experience with XPlan and cashflow planning software would be advantageous.

The firm is also committed to continued professional development, with support available towards the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and Chartered status .

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This isn’t simply another Paraplanner position with the possibility of moving into advice at some unspecified point in the future.

The Associate Wealth Planner position is specifically structured to help an experienced Paraplanner develop into a client-facing Planner. You’ll have the opportunity to build your advisory experience gradually, working alongside an established Senior Planner rather than being expected to immediately manage a full client bank or generate your own business.

You’ll be joining an established wealth management organisation with the resources, infrastructure and technical support of a major international group, while working within a relationship-led financial planning environment.

For someone who has built several years of strong paraplanning experience and is now ready for the next stage of their career, this offers a clear and supported route forward.
