New Product Developer (R&D)

Over the past 10 years, Medix Laboratoires (Oudenaarde) has built a strong reputation as a developer and private label producer of innovative dietary supplements, diet, and sports nutrition. Using advanced production technology, they offer both powders and capsules, as well as a wide range of packaging options—in short, tailor-made total solutions for every customer.

In this dynamic SME with around 100 employees, everyone is given the space to take initiative and make an impact. Together with their international partner Alphacaps, they serve customers all over the world. What truly sets Medix apart is their strong in-house R&D team and lab. They invest heavily in innovative ingredients and offer exclusive tailor-made advice for both start-ups and established international brands. Their distinct focus on taste and texture consistently results in unique, high-quality formulations.

To further strengthen the R&D team, we are looking for a driven New Product Developer for Medix. Someone with a passion for developing new flavors and innovative compositions.

Your role

As a New Product Developer at Medix Laboratoires, you will be part of an experienced R&D team and work hands-on on the development of innovative products. The focus lies on sports nutrition, dietary supplements, diet food, and OTC products, where you will work closely with colleagues from purchasing, quality, and production. In this way, you contribute to products that excite both customers and end-users.

• Based on your passion or experience with dietary supplements, you translate customer needs into new formulations. You manage your own projects and customer portfolio and guide the entire development process.
• Together with purchasing, you search for the right suppliers and raw materials.
• You experiment with flavors, textures, and ingredients; tasting is essential in this process.
• You closely monitor legislation and nutritional requirements.
• You draw up product specifications and send out samples.
• You process feedback from various stakeholders and refine your product through an iterative process.
• You support price estimations and final cost price calculations.
• On average, you manage about fifty projects per year, with about ten running simultaneously.
• You have a master's degree, preferably as a bio-engineer or in a similar field.
• Ideally, you have six to ten years of experience in product development within food or supplements, or you compensate for this with a strong passion for food and a great eagerness to learn.
• You love experimenting and actively look for trends and innovation.
• You handle changing priorities smoothly: you are flexible, hands-on, and enjoy multitasking.
• Thanks to your strong communication skills, you guarantee smooth cooperation with customers and stakeholders, also internationally.
• You take initiative, think along, and take ownership.
• Your coaching skills help junior colleagues progress in their development.
• You feel at home in a no-nonsense, down-to-earth culture.
• You speak fluent English. Knowledge of French is a nice plus.
