Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support safe, reliable operation of mechanical equipment at a power station in Singapore through maintenance planning, troubleshooting, site supervision, and shutdown coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for turbines, pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, coolers, strainers, and related mechanical systems to ensure operational reliability
  • Diagnose equipment faults and investigate failures to recommend corrective actions that enhance equipment performance
  • Prepare detailed work scopes, maintenance procedures, method statements, risk assessments, and technical reports to support maintenance activities
  • Supervise technicians and contractors to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements during maintenance work
  • Coordinate equipment inspections, servicing, overhauls, and testing during planned shutdowns and outages to minimize downtime
  • Review engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and technical specifications to verify maintenance and repair requirements
  • Collaborate with operations personnel to manage equipment isolation, permit-to-work processes, and safe return to service
  • Monitor maintenance progress, spare parts availability, and expenditure to optimize resource utilization
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update the computerized maintenance management system for traceability
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues and improve maintenance outcomes

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in power generation, utilities, petrochemicals, or industrial plant maintenance
  • Knowledge of rotating and static equipment including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and piping systems
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis techniques
  • Understanding of workplace safety practices, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Strong communication, coordination, and technical report-writing skills
  • Willingness to work on site and support shutdowns, overtime, or emergency call-outs as needed
  • Experience with steam turbines, plate heat exchangers, cooling systems, and automatic strainers is advantageous
