Communications Manager - Umeå Biotech Incubator
We are looking for someone who finds it easy to build relationships, has high drive and commitment, and a well-developed communicative compass that enables you to adapt the message depending on the target audience. Through communication, you want to contribute to the growth of people and companies and put our region on the world map. This position is a 2-year temporary assignment starting as soon as possible.
Your role
As Communications Manager, your main task is to develop and support UBI's operations through communication in all its forms. You are responsible for UBI's long-term communication strategy towards our various target groups. Your role is divided into three areas of responsibility: informing and inspiring potential idea carriers so that they turn to UBI with their business ideas, making our startups visible nationally and internationally to investors, and making UBI's contribution to increasing the attractiveness of the region and Sweden visible.
Your role also includes responsibility for our website and our social channels, press work, news and environmental monitoring within the field, and writing and proofreading texts for various channels and purposes.
To succeed in reaching idea carriers, you build relationships with key individuals within academia and Region Västerbotten (formerly the county council). At a national level, you work together with our industry organizations SISP and SwedenBio to raise important issues on a national scale. Last but not least, you support our startups with communication issues regarding brand, marketing, and PR matters.
You have a strong team by your side, namely the CEO, three business coaches, a lab, an engineer, and an accountant, all of whom are passionate about building companies and helping entrepreneurs move forward. Your colleagues have high ambitions, discuss everything from high to low with healthy questioning and a positive fundamental outlook. The workday for a Communications Manager is very varied, and you manage your own work and decide how best to reach our customers' (the incubator companies') goals and the incubator's goals.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with an education in journalism, communication, marketing, or similar. Preferably with a background in biology/chemistry/medicine, but this is not a requirement.
To quickly be able to familiarize yourself with the breadth of tasks, we would like you to have experience in a little bit of everything within communication and PR. The focus is on being confident and secure in being able to write adapted texts for different purposes, often journalistic texts in English. Experience in campaign and communication planning, both strategic and operational communication, is welcomed.
You understand the importance of networking and actively utilize it. You are driven to find out things, interview, and be curious in order to thereby build future plans based on the right foundation. The location for the position is in Umeå. Perhaps you are already living here or are a future resident of Umeå.
