*Job Description:*
Marcon Metalfab is seeking an experienced *Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) with a strong background in steel connection design* to join our in-house engineering team in Delta, BC. This role is well-suited to an engineer who enjoys practical, fabrication-focused design and taking projects from concept through construction.
As part of our engineering group, you will play a key role in the design, detailing, and review of steel structures and connections, working closely with fabrication, detailing, and project teams. The position includes acting as Engineer of Record, sealing drawings, and completing field reviews.
*Key Responsibilities:*
- Design steel structures in accordance with CSA S16, CSA S6, and the BC Building Code
- Perform design and detailing of bolted and welded steel connections, including complex and custom connection solutions
- Provide engineering input on constructability, load paths, and fabrication efficiency
- Assist with the design of bridge components, including bearings and expansion joints
- Act as Engineer of Record (EOR) and seal drawings as required
- Conduct field reviews and provide engineering support during fabrication and erection
- Support estimating and proposal efforts by providing technical input
- Contribute to research and development of new or improved products, systems, and connection details
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure designs are practical, code-compliant, and buildable
*Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian structural design codes and standards
- Demonstrated expertise in steel connection design (bolted and welded)
- Solid understanding of steel and concrete building systems
- Proficiency with structural analysis and finite element analysis software
- Experience with 3D modeling and CAD-based detailing environments
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment
*Required Training and Experience:*
- Bachelor?s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of relevant structural design experience
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
- Proven experience in structural steel and connection design
- Bridge design experience (CSA S6) is considered an asset
