Preschool Kitchen Assistant
Your tasks
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing healthy breakfasts and afternoon snacks, assisting with lunch distribution, maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene, and supporting the smooth daily operations of the preschool.
1. Meal Preparation & Serving
- Prepare simple, healthy and nutritious breakfasts and afternoon snacks for preschool children according to the school's menu.
- Receive, portion and distribute catered lunches to classrooms.
- Ensure meals and snacks are prepared and served on time.
- Follow the school's guidelines on food allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety during food preparation and serving.
2. Kitchen Hygiene & Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, food preparation areas, utensils and equipment.
- Wash and sanitise dishes, food containers and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure proper food storage and organisation of kitchen supplies.
- Monitor food supplies and inform the supervisor when replenishment is required.
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations.
3. General Support
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic preschool environment.
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to support daily operations.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the school management.
Requirements
Job Description We are looking for a responsible, caring and hardworking Preschool Kitchen Assistant to join our preschool team.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a preschool, childcare centre, school kitchen or food preparation role is preferred.
- Able to independently prepare simple breakfasts and afternoon snacks for young children.
- Possess a valid WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 certification, or be willing to obtain the required certification before undertaking food handling duties.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Responsible, hardworking, punctual and well-organised.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and comfortable with daily kitchen operations.
- Patient, caring and comfortable working in a preschool environment.
