Maple Leaf Metals is an Edmonton-based metal recycling operation that purchases all types of metal scrap for processing, packaging, and resale. Operations include purchasing and selling scrap, heavy machinery operation, repair and maintenance of machinery, sorting of scrap, and processing of scrap material.
*Job Description*
We are seeking a self-motivated, proactive, and safety-focused Lugger / Roll-Off Truck Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering, picking up, and transporting scrap metal bins and containers from various customer locations throughout the Edmonton region.
The ideal candidate has 3?5 years of commercial driving experience, holds a valid Canadian Class 1-3 driver's licence with air endorsement, and has experience operating lugger and/or roll-off trucks. The candidate must be comfortable working in an industrial environment, securing loads, interacting with customers, and following all company safety procedures.
*Responsibilities*
- Operate a Maple Leaf Metals lugger/roll-off truck to deliver and pick up scrap metal bins and containers from customer locations.
- Safely load, unload, position, and transport bins and containers.
- Inspect trucks, equipment, and loads before and during operation.
- Properly secure loads and ensure compliance with transportation and safety regulations.
- Complete required pre-use inspections, paperwork, and delivery/pickup documentation.
- Maintain communication with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding pickups and deliveries.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service at customer locations.
- Ensure customer sites are left clean and safe after bin pickup or delivery.
- Report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, damaged bins, or other concerns promptly.
- Follow all Maple Leaf Metals safety policies, procedures, and site requirements.
- Maintain a clean and professional truck and work area.
- Assist with general yard and operational activities when required.
- Work as part of a team to meet customer and operational requirements.
*Qualifications* *and Experience:*
- 3-5 years experience
- Clean drivers abstract for the last 5 years
- Must have an Air Endorsed Canadian Class 3 License. Class 1 is an asset.
- Previous experience operating lugger, roll-off, or hook-lift trucks is preferred.
- Experience securing and tying down loads.
- Good knowledge of Edmonton and surrounding areas.
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment and in an industrial environment.
- Strong understanding and commitment to safe work practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple pickups and deliveries efficiently.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

- Monday to Friday 7:00 am ? 5:00 pm and 8:00 am - 12:00 pm on Saturdays (if required)
