Cat Mechanic

JOB PURPOSE

Carry out general repairs- component overhauls to all the Caterpillar product range, diagnose machine faults using certified testing equipment and Failure analysis & inspections Carry out repairs/overhauls to Machines & Components either.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Removes and installs machine components in component repairs, following procedures laid down in the appropriate service manuals and quality control.
• Responsible for the well-being of his/her toolbox, tooling & vehicles.
• Return tooling to the Tool store daily in good and clean working condition, otherwise report any damage to your Store man /supervisor and fill out damage form.
• Responsible for his/her own house keeping maintaining the highest standards.
• Maintain a high level of safety awareness and others around him/her.
• Be able to perform all types of scheduled maintenance & PDI & assembly.
• Cleans disassembled parts and makes them ready for inspection.
• Booking of time spent on the various jobs he/she performed and that of the team.
• Ensure that all removed/disassembled components are properly kept, open lines capped and plugged.
• Should be able to use the tools that are required for removal and installation, and for assembly and disassembly.
• Uses appropriate literature, reusability guidelines and manuals required for jobs assigned.
• Responsible for proper labelling and storage of disassembled components and parts.
• Ensure that the parts are cleaned properly and assembly is done in a contamination free condition.
• Makes sure that unused parts, if any are brought to the attention of his Supervisor for him to return to store prior to work order close.
• Must keep all used/replaced parts together, to deliver to the customers together with the repaired component or machine.
• He is responsible to submit written SIMS and service reports on every repair work he performs.
• He is responsible to report to his supervisor any damages or parts lost on the jobs he is performing.
• Reports unusual events and explains to his supervisor when asked.
• Inspect Component/Machine parts and be able to complete a parts quotation-using SIS.
• Be able to carry out minor trouble-shooting tasks with the aid of Caterpillar specialized diagnostic tooling.
• Carry out minor machine repairs/partial component overhauls without supervision.
• Carry out on the job training (OJT) for newly appointed graduates
• Ensure service reports are written for every task and submitted before COB every day.

EDUCATION

Minimum of Intermediate MVT/MET/EET - Intermediate

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in heavy duty earthmoving mining and construction machinery.
• Line boring experience will be an advantage.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have Ghanian driver’s license B/E.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent technical skills and good time management skills
• Good IT skills
• Must be able to work in a noisy and dusty environment
• Should be able to work longer hours, including weekends and holidays.
