Duties/Responsibilities: •Project Leadership: oLead the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems for production equipment, thermal processing equipment, material handling systems, utilities, and related mechanical systems. oLead or support mechanical engineering projects by coordinating timelines, budgets, resources, contractors, and internal stakeholders. oProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians. •Design and Analysis: oPerform mechanical design reviews, engineering calculations and analysis; advanced simulation such as FEA or CFD is preferred. oDevelop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. oSelect and specify appropriate materials, components, and spare parts for high-temperature, corrosive, and heavy-duty applications. •Equipment Optimization: oIdentify and implement machine design improvements to existing mechanical systems to enhance performance, reduce downtime, and improve energy efficiency. oConduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions. •Safety and Compliance: oEnsure compliance with applicable safety standards, machine safety requirements, lifting equipment requirements, hot work, confined space, and local regulations where relevant. oConduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to minimize hazards. oParticipate in safety audits and incident investigations. •Collaboration and Communication: oCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality control. oCommunicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and contractors. •Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience in metallurgical, heavy industrial, or manufacturing environments Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment used in metallurgical, heavy industrial, or manufacturing environments Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor; experience with FEA software is preferred. Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal systems. Knowledge of material selection for high-temperature, corrosive, and heavy-duty applications. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Certification in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Management, or safety-related fields is preferred. High Temperatures: Experience with high-temperature mechanical systems, materials, and operating conditions. Corrosive Environments: Knowledge of corrosion-resistant materials, coatings, and component selection. Heavy Loads and Stress: Ability to design, review, or analyze mechanical systems subject to heavy loads and high stress. Material Handling: Experience with material handling equipment in metallurgical or heavy industrial manufacturing processes Safety: Strong safety awareness and understanding of applicable industrial safety regulations. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and fumes. Ability to access and inspect equipment in a manufacturing environment Ability to climb ladders and work at heights. Willingness to support urgent maintenance or project activities outside normal working hours when required. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or providing technical guidance to technicians. Proficient in Microsoft Office, email communication, basic digital tools, and CMMS where applicable.
