JOB - Material Stores Operator
LOCATION - Aldershot, Hampshire
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £35,000 - £38,500 per annum (dependent on experience)
My client is an established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in precision engineering. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Material Stores Operator to join their production team at their Aldershot facility. You will play a key role in ensuring the production team has the correct materials available when required, while maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring materials meet quality and compliance requirements.
The Material Stores Operator will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a materials, stores, warehouse or manufacturing environment
- Experience working within an engineering or precision manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous
- Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Good understanding of stock control, goods-in and materials handling
- Forklift experience would be advantageous, although training/refresher training can be provided
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and make decisions when required
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production and inspection teams
- Comfortable with manual handling and being on your feet for the majority of the working day
- A positive, proactive and flexible attitude
- Strong understanding of health and safety within a workshop or manufacturing environment
The Material Stores Operator role will involve:
- Receiving, inspecting and booking in raw materials, checking deliveries for damage and processing delivery documentation
- Raising job cards for the shop floor and cross-referencing material certificates to ensure compliance
- Preparing raw materials including billet and bar stock to meet production requirements
- Managing material movements in and out of the workshop and responding to shop floor material demands
- Maintaining accurate stock records and supporting the company's bi-annual stock take
- Carrying out hardness testing on incoming materials to support material conformity
- Supporting the organisation of subcontracting activities relating to raw materials
- Working closely with production, inspection and expediting teams to ensure materials are available when required
- Maintaining forklift and material-handling records and ensuring all relevant logbooks are completed
- Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining company processes and procedures
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with the company's quality, health & safety and environmental standards
