We are seeking employees for an Erasmus+ funded project to develop teaching materials for mathematics education involving programming and computations.
Description of the workplace
Matematikcentrum has approximately 150 employees, of which about 40 are at the Matematik NF department where the position is located. Other departments are Matematik LTH with numerical analysis as well as Matematisk statistik.
The Matematik NF department has the overall responsibility for bachelor's and master's programs in mathematics within the natural sciences and offers courses in mathematics and numerical analysis that are also elective within other program areas at the Naturvetenskapliga fakulteten and can be taken as standalone courses.

Tasks
As an employee on the project, you will develop teaching materials for mathematics education using programming, computations, and interactive digital tools. The tasks include, among others:
- develop and test tutorials, exercises, and projects that combine mathematics and programming.
- provide feedback on the material's pedagogical structure from a student perspective.
- implement examples and solutions in programming languages (e.g., Python).
- learn and apply new technology for interactive web-based tutorials (e.g., Jupyter Notebook).
- experiment with and evaluate tools that link teaching materials to LLMs (language models).
- collaborate with the project's teachers and researchers, as well as with international partner universities.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- a completed bachelor's degree in programming, computer science, or equivalent.
- completed courses in mathematics at Matematikcentrum, Lunds universitet (at least two semesters of full-time studies or equivalent).
- very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
- good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Meritorious:
- experience in teaching, tutoring, or pedagogical material development.
- personal experience using AI tools in mathematics studies.
- participation in conferences, workshops, or project work regarding programming and AI within mathematics education.
- experience of international collaboration.
Other
The employment is fixed-term as a special fixed-term employment (SÄVA) according to LAS.
Extent: 20% per employee (two people in total).
Period: 2026-10-12 or as soon as possible thereafter until 2026-12-31, with the possibility of some flexibility in scheduling working hours.

At Naturvetenskapliga fakulteten, research and education are conducted in astronomy, biology, physics, geosciences, chemistry, mathematics, medical radiation physics, environmental science, and physical geography. Operations are conducted within the northern university area. The faculty has approximately 1,900 students, 330 doctoral students, and 730 employees.
