Special subject description The two positions are located at the Department of Astrophysics, Physics Department, Lund University. The applicants will work together with Prof. Oscar Agertz and the galaxy formation research group in Lund. We are looking for candidates with experience in numerical modeling of galaxy formation and evolution or star formation. The positions are time-limited to two years. The start date is flexible, but preferably no later than September 2027. Duties The duties within a position as a postdoc consist mainly of research. Teaching may also be included, however, at most 20 percent of the working time. Within the framework of the employment, the opportunity shall be given for three weeks of higher education pedagogical training. The employees will conduct research in close collaboration with Oscar Agertz and the galaxy formation research group in Lund. Applicants will be given the opportunity to participate in research projects within a wide spectrum of areas, including cosmological zoom simulations of galaxy formation, the origin of the Milky Way, formation and evolution of dwarf galaxies, as well as numerical models of the turbulent interstellar medium and star formation on galactic scales. We also encourage applicants to develop and conduct their own research projects. The research group has access to national supercomputer resources, which will also be available to the employees. For further information about the research and possible projects, please contact Oscar Agertz. There is also an opportunity to participate in the supervision of students at the bachelor's, master's, and/or doctoral level, but this is not a requirement. Copy of degree certificate for the doctoral degree as well as any other certificates/grades you wish to invoke.
How to apply
Welcome with your application! At the Faculty of Science, research and education are conducted in astronomy, biology, physics, geosciences, chemistry, mathematics, medical radiation physics, environmental science, and physical geography. The operations are conducted within the northern university area. The faculty has approximately 1,900 students, 330 doctoral students, and 730 employees. The Physics Department is one of Lund University's largest departments with approximately 400 employees. The department is shared by the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering (LTH). At the department, there are seven research divisions and a number of larger research centers. Research at the department covers a wide spectrum of modern physics. www.fysik.lu.se We decline all contact from advertisers, recruitment, and staffing agencies due to state procurement regulations.
