This is us:
The Centre for Advanced Laser Applications (CALA) is a central high-performance laser research facility of the Faculty of Physics at LMU. We develop and operate state-of-the-art ultrashort-pulse laser systems and work closely with international research teams from various disciplines. In addition, our technical team is responsible for the technical planning, implementation, and further development of complex scientific experiments, thereby ensuring stable, safe, and efficient research operations.
We are looking for you:
2 Mechatronics Technicians as Operators (m/f/d)
at the Garching location
This is your task:
- You are responsible for the operation, monitoring, and continuous maintenance of our high-vacuum system, including fault diagnosis, repairs, and system upgrades.
- You monitor and analyze the relevant operating parameters of our laser beamline and perform maintenance, alignment, and conversion work on optical and mechanical components.
- You ensure operational technical safety in the experimental environment and consistently implement defined safety and quality standards.
- You coordinate the planning, supervision, and acceptance of maintenance and service assignments by external companies and are responsible for the safe recommissioning of the systems.
- You act as a central interface between science and technology, translating requirements into technical solutions and ensuring stable, efficient research operations.
This is you:
- You have completed vocational training in the field of mechatronics or a comparable technical qualification.
- Ideally, you already have professional experience in vacuum technology as well as in handling technical optics and optomechanical setups. Alternatively, you have a clear willingness to train in these technologies.
- Your working style is independent, structured, and responsible. You act in a solution-oriented manner, keep safety requirements in mind, and proactively participate in coordination processes with scientists.
- You have good English skills, both written and spoken.
- You possess the physical mobility necessary for laboratory operations (e.g., working at optical tables, handling heavy components).
This is our offer:
We offer you an interesting and responsible activity at one of the largest German universities.
Your workplace is located in Garching near Munich and is very well accessible by public transport.
The position is initially limited to two years, with the option of being transferred to an unlimited employment relationship. Remuneration is up to pay group E9b according to the TV-L (state collective agreement), depending on qualifications.
