Job Summary
Long Chain Construction Chemicals Ltd is seeking a professional, detail-oriented, and experienced Accountant / Finance Officer to manage the company’s day-to-day financial operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for accounting, accounts receivable and payable, bank and cash management, inventory and product costing, tax compliance, payroll, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
Experience in manufacturing, construction materials, chemicals, paint, or FMCG will be an added advantage, particularly candidates with practical experience in inventory management, production costing, taxation, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Accounting
- Record and manage daily income, purchases, sales, expenses, and payments.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and financial transactions.
- Manage the General Ledger, journal entries, and supporting financial documents.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts.
- Accounts Receivable & Payable
- Manage customer and distributor accounts receivable.
- Follow up on customer payments and outstanding balances.
- Process supplier invoices and payments.
- Conduct supplier and customer reconciliations.
- Prepare weekly reports on outstanding customer balances and supplier payments.
- Bank & Cash Management
- Reconcile bank accounts and company transactions.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Manage petty cash, M-Pesa, and bank transactions.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure proper utilization of company funds.
- Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Manage accounting records for raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Reconcile physical stock against ERP/accounting records.
- Track raw material consumption, production costs, and product costs.
- Prepare product costing and gross margin analysis.
- Analyze variances between actual and standard costs.
- Work closely with the production team during monthly stock-taking and inventory reconciliation.
- Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare financial information required for VAT, PAYE, WHT, and other statutory obligations.
- Support statutory tax filings and payments.
- Ensure financial records comply with applicable Kenya Revenue Authority requirements.
- Coordinate with external accountants, tax consultants, and auditors when required.
- Payroll
- Prepare and process monthly payroll.
- Verify salaries, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
- Prepare payroll schedules and statutory deductions.
- Work closely with HR to maintain accurate employee financial records.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and maintain regular:
- Sales Reports
- Collection Reports
- Expense Reports
- Inventory Reports
- Product Costing Reports
- Gross Profit Reports
- Cash Flow Reports
- Outstanding Receivables Reports
Provide management with accurate financial information, business performance data, and cost analysis to support decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- CPA (K) or ACCA qualification/progress will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction materials, paint, chemicals, or FMCG is preferred.
- Experience in inventory management and manufacturing cost accounting is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Good knowledge of Kenyan taxation and statutory compliance.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using QuickBooks, Sage, ERP, or other accounting systems.
- Proficiency in Excel functions such as XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and Pivot Tables.
- Ability to independently perform:
- Bank reconciliations
- Customer reconciliations
- Supplier reconciliations
- Inventory reconciliations
- Product costing
