System Administrator
Job Purpose To ensure the stable, secure, and efficient operation of the organisation’s IT systems by installing, maintaining, and supporting servers, operating systems, and core infrastructure services, while ensuring high availability, performance, and data security. Key Responsibilities System Administration Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain, and support server infrastructure (physical and virtual).
Administer operating systems including Windows Server and/or Linux .
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services .
Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal operation.
Implement and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures .
Apply system updates, patches, and security fixes in accordance with best practices.
Security and Compliance Implement and enforce system security controls and access management.
Monitor system logs and respond to security incidents and alerts.
Ensure compliance with information security policies and data protection regulations.
Support and Documentation Provide second- and third-line technical support for system-related issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system faults and service outages.
Maintain accurate system documentation, configurations, and operational procedures.
Collaboration and Projects Work closely with network, security, and application teams.
Support IT projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
Liaise with vendors and external service providers when required.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is commonly preferred.
Relevant certifications can substitute for or strengthen formal education.
Technical Skills Windows Server and/or Linux administration
