Specialist Customs & Regulatory Compliance (m/f/d)

About us

LK PremiumPack is a leading partner on the European market for the design, development, and supply of high-quality metal packaging. We accompany our well-known B2B customers (e.g., from the confectionery, coffee/tea, and cosmetics sectors) from the first creative idea, through the precise production control of our partners in China and India, to the final logistics processing via the Port of Rotterdam.

As an independent company within the internationally operating Massilly Group, we combine the financial security of a global corporation with the agility and short decision-making paths of a modern medium-sized enterprise. With us, you are not just a number, but actively help shape our global Supply Chain in a motivated, manageable team.

To support our growth and for the strategic optimization of our import processes, we are looking for a Specialist Customs & Regulatory Compliance (m/f/d) for a future-oriented transition project, which is divided into two clear phases.

Tasks

PHASE 1: Integration, Induction & Auditing (Month 1 to 6)

In this first phase, your focus will be on becoming intensively familiar with our business model, the technical product specifications, and our current logistics flow. In doing so, you will work together with our existing external partners and our current customs specialist.

  • Interface management customs freight forwarding: You act as the central main contact for our current customs freight forwarder in Rotterdam. You monitor, validate, and check all customs declarations carried out in our name.
  • Operational compliance testing: You verify the accuracy and completeness of the import documents from our production partners in China and India (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading, certificates of origin).
  • Tariff classification & database maintenance: You audit and structure our customs tariff database (TARIC/HS-Codes). You ensure the correct classification of our decorative cans based on technical characteristics (such as sheet metal thickness, coating, as well as suitability for food contact according to Regulation EC No. 1935/2004).
  • Cost analysis: You precisely evaluate the current customs clearance costs and identify concrete financial optimization potentials.

PHASE 2: Transition to in-house customs clearance (From the 6th month)

After successful induction into our processes, you will lead the migration project to enable LK PremiumPack to handle its container imports in Rotterdam independently in the future without intermediaries.

  • Authority management: You manage the administrative and legal processes in direct exchange with the Dutch customs and tax authorities (Douane Nederland and Belastingdienst).
  • Application for the "Article 23" certificate: You lead the application and implementation of the import VAT deferral in the Netherlands to sustainably optimize our company's liquidity.
  • Software implementation: You select a certified customs software, install it, and configure it for direct connection to the Dutch customs system DMS (Declaration Management System).
  • Independent customs clearance: You take over the direct electronic customs clearance of all our containers upon arrival at the Port of Rotterdam.
  • Medium-term project (AEO): You prepare the company for the audit and the attainment of Authorized Economic Operator status (AEO / OEA) to accelerate our customs processes in the long term.

Regulatory Compliance & Customer Support (In cooperation with the Massilly Group)

  • Centralization of customer inquiries: You form the central internal interface for all customer inquiries regarding declarations of conformity, material safety (sheet metal, coatings, printing inks), and European directives.
  • Coordination within the corporate group: You work closely with the quality department of the Massilly Group to request required technical evidence and perfectly align the conformity documents for our products manufactured in Asia.
  • Administrative document maintenance: You ensure seamless and structured archiving so that every dispatched batch delivery can be immediately linked with the corresponding, current certificates.

Your Profile

  • Education & Experience: Successfully completed studies in the field of international logistics, foreign trade, customs law, or a comparable qualification. You have at least 3 to 5 years of professional experience at a customs freight forwarder (customs agency) or in the customs department of an importing company.
  • Technical Expertise: You have a complete command of customs valuation rules, Incoterms (FOB, CFR, DDP), preferential rules of origin, and European customs systems.
  • DMS/ATLAS experience: Sound knowledge of the Dutch customs system (DMS) or the German system (ATLAS) is required. Ideally, you have already successfully accompanied a project for in-house customs clearance or the application of Article 23 in the Netherlands.
  • Language skills: Business fluent English is mandatory (daily working language with our suppliers in China/India as well as the authorities in the Netherlands). Fluent German or Dutch skills are a great advantage.
  • Personal strengths: Highest precision in dealing with numbers and regulations, absolute reliability, and a strongly solution-oriented way of working to proactively avoid any container downtime in the port.
