livestock labourer
Education:
No degree, certificate or diploma.
Work site environment:
Beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots. Dusty. Odours. Livestock. All weather conditions.
Work setting:
Rural area. Staff accommodation provided.
Tasks:
- Handling animals.
- Monitor the calving process.
- Monitoring animal health.
- Perform livestock feeding.
- Prepare a clean, dry area for cows that are calving.
- Track and report on current feed inventory .
- Weaning.
- Feed and tend animals.
- Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
- Maintain livestock performance records.
- Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens.
- Maintain work records and logs.
- Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry.
- Perform general farm duties.
Work conditions and physical capabilities:
Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods.
Experience:
No experience (will train).
