We are seeking a computer engineering technician (SkePU/SkeVU-systemutveckling), to the Department of Computer Science.

About the job

You will work within a long-term research and development project in software engineering for distributed, parallel, and heterogeneous computer systems. The tasks include further development, application, and documentation of our C++-based open-source programming framework SkePU for heterogeneous parallel systems. Additional tasks include programming advanced system-level software for heterogeneous distributed computer systems as well as the execution-trace visualizer SkeVU. The job therefore requires very good familiarity with the SkePU programming framework and the SkeVU visualizer. The work also includes participation in regular project meetings and may also include technical meetings and system demonstrations for our partners.

About you

We are looking for you with (recently or very soon) completed master's studies in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a similar subject, with specialization/master's thesis matching the above tasks.

We want you to have:

Very good familiarity with the SkePU framework and SkeVU Good proficiency in English, both spoken and written Good ability to work independently

It is meritorious if you have:

A good background in software engineering and tools, operating systems, compiler technology, as well as in programming distributed, parallel, and heterogeneous computer systems.

Your workplace

The Department of Computer Science (IDA) was founded in 1983, but our roots go back to the early 1970s. It is one of the largest computer science departments in Northern Europe. Our research covers a wide spectrum of areas, from fundamental computer science to applied areas. The extensive research also influences our undergraduate and graduate education, which leads to us providing courses within several civil and university engineering programs, as well as programs in innovative programming, cognitive science, and statistics. You will work at the Department of Software and Systems (SAS) and belong to the Software Engineering unit (PELAB). The Software Engineering laboratory currently has approximately 30 employees.

About the employment

The position is a fixed-term employment until December 31, 2026. The scope of the work is 75%.
