Linköpings universitet announces a vacancy for a position as postdoc in electronic plants.

Duties A postdoc shall primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the duties, however, at most one-fifth of the working time.

The postdoc will focus on developing manufacturing techniques to develop electronics in vivo, in plants. The research will be part of the FET-OPEN project HyPhOE-Hybrid Electronics Based on Photosynthetic Organisms. One of the main goals for this project is to develop a set of tools and methods for bidirectional electronic and chemical interaction with photosynthetic organisms. The postdoc will primarily focus on research and personal development within the field of electronic plants. The post-doc will investigate manufacturing methods to develop electronics in plants with a focus on the functionalization of root-anchored plants. The postdoc will work closely with the chemists in the group. The results will be the backbone for the targeted applications for the project, which intend to address energy systems and environmental monitoring. The research will mainly be of an experimental nature, including manufacturing at lab scale as well as material development, characterization of electronic devices, and plant integration. The activities will include literature studies, laboratory work, writing, and communicating the scientific results.

Qualifications Eligible for employment as a postdoc is the person who has obtained a doctoral degree or has a foreign degree assessed to correspond to a doctoral degree, and who obtained the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period.

We are now seeking someone who has a doctoral degree and a strong scientific background in physics, chemistry, material science, biotechnology, biology, and/or other relevant fields. Experience with conducting polymers, nanomaterials, and bioelectronic devices is of extra value. Interest in plants is mandatory. The applicant must be driven, creative, highly self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving abilities. The applicant must be able to work effectively both individually and together with other researchers in an interdisciplinary context. The applicant must have very good communication skills and good knowledge of English.
