Your duties

You will work in two major research projects funded by Vetenskapsrådet and FORTE: DIATEST-HELP and DiaCare, which encompass pragmatic randomized studies, implementation research, and person-centered diabetes care. The duties include planning, conducting, and analyzing qualitative studies, such as interviews, focus groups, and observational studies, as well as developing study designs and analysis plans. You will also contribute to qualitative and mixed methods analyses, scientific manuscript writing, and the development of future research projects and applications for research funding. The work takes place in close collaboration with researchers in general medicine, geriatrics, and epidemiology.

As a postdoc, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the duties, however, at most one-fifth of the working time.

Your qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a postdoc, you must have completed a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is assessed to correspond to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made.

It is meritorious if your degree was completed no more than three years before the final application date for this employment. If there are special reasons, those who completed their doctoral degree earlier may be considered, for example, due to different types of statutory leave.

We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree in a subject area with documented competence in qualitative research methodology, for example, medical science, nursing science, public health science, psychology, sociology, or another related field. You have experience in planning, conducting, and analyzing qualitative studies as well as very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English. We also believe that you have experience in qualitative content analysis, thematic analysis, grounded theory, framework analysis, or other established qualitative analysis methods. Experience in implementation research, person-centered care, mixed methods research, or clinical intervention studies is meritorious. Experience in research within diabetes, primary care, elderly care, or cardiometabolic health, as well as scientific publication in international journals, is also meritorious.

You are independent, analytical, and curious with a genuine interest in the perspectives of patients, relatives, and healthcare personnel. You have good collaborative skills and thrive in interdisciplinary research environments where different methodological perspectives are integrated. You are structured, communicative, and have the ability to translate qualitative results into clinically relevant and scientifically significant conclusions.

Your workplace

You will work at https://liu.se/organisation/liu/hmv/prnv, Institutionen för hälsa, medicin och vård, Linköpings universitet. The research group conducts internationally competitive research in diabetes, cardiometabolic prevention, person-centered care, clinical trials, registry research, and implementation science in close collaboration with primary care, municipal health and medical services, and international research partners. The group works interdisciplinary and combines quantitative and qualitative research methods to develop and evaluate new ways of working within healthcare.

About the employment

The employment is a fixed-term employment for 3 years. The employment as a postdoc is full-time.
