Your duties

As a PhD student, you will devote yourself to your doctoral studies and the research projects you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental duties, up to 20 percent of full-time employment.

Several different research areas are represented within the department. In particular, we have a group within potential theory and analysis on metric spaces (see https://liu.se/forskning/ickelinjar-potentialteori), which this project is primarily intended to concern.

Your qualifications

You have completed a degree at an advanced level or completed courses of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are at an advanced level within a field related to the doctoral subject. These 60 higher education credits must include an independent work, a thesis, of at least 30 higher education credits, in a subject relevant to the field, or knowledge primarily equivalent acquired within or outside the country. This also refers to courses or theses in mathematics-oriented, applied subjects. The eligibility requirements for the employment must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made, i.e., when the employment contract is signed.

You should have a great interest in fundamental research. As a PhD student, a good ability to work independently and drive projects forward, to familiarize yourself with new research questions, and good collaborative skills are required.

International experience and a thesis relevant to the employment are meritorious.

Great importance will also be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

Applicants must have a very good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Your workplace

You will be employed as a PhD student in mathematics at Matematiska institutionen, the department of Analys och didaktik (ANDI). The department ANDI consists of approximately twenty-five teachers, researchers, and PhD students. Research in mathematics is conducted both within the discipline and applied within various branches of mathematical analysis. About the employment

The employment is time-limited to normally four years full-time. Extension of employment up to five years occurs based on the degree of teaching and departmental duties. For special reasons, further extension may occur. You will initially be employed for one year, and thereafter the employment will be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time, based on the achieved study plan.

Commencement in January 2027 or by agreement.
