MEP Tendering Engineer
- Tender Analysis & Scope Evaluation
Review and analyze tender documents, including Bills of Quantities (BOQs), specifications, technical drawings, and contract conditions.
Issue Requests for Information (RFIs) or clarifications to the client or consultant regarding ambiguities in the tender package.
- Quantity Take-Off & Cost Estimation
Perform accurate quantity take-offs (QTO) for all MEP services (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power distribution, low-voltage systems).
Prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns including material costs, labor, plant/equipment, site overheads, subcontractor costs, and contingencies.
Conduct value engineering analyses to suggest cost-effective technical alternatives without compromising compliance or quality.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Procurement
Send inquiries (RFQs) to suppliers and subcontractors for quotes on specialty equipment and sub-trades.
Perform technical and commercial evaluations of vendor quotations using comparison sheets to select optimal solutions.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Proposal Compilation & Submittal
Prepare complete Technical Submittals (method statements, execution plans, compliance statements, equipment data sheets) and Commercial Submittals (priced BOQs, rate analyses).
Coordinate with internal planning, civil, and commercial departments to align MEP schedules and budgets with the overall bid.
Required Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Typically 3 to 7+ years of experience in MEP tendering, estimation, and pre-construction engineering.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Candy/CCS, CostX, or advanced Excel).
Knowledge of drafting and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
