Senior Management Accountant

12 month FTC initially, with the view to going permanent ASAP start Location: Manchester, 3 days a week onsite Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum

We're looking for an experienced Senior Management Accountant to take ownership of a key finance function within a large, complex organisation. This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible leadership role where you'll drive reporting excellence, strengthen financial controls and play a central part in ongoing finance transformation initiatives.

You'll lead a talented accounting team, ensuring the delivery of reliable financial information while helping the business make informed commercial decisions. The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the chance to contribute to strategic projects that will shape the future of the finance function.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading and developing a team of finance professionals, creating an environment where people can perform, grow and succeed.
• Ensuring the smooth delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting activities.
• Providing high-quality financial insight and analysis to support business performance.
• Taking ownership of key balance sheet areas and maintaining strong governance across financial processes.
• Working closely with finance and business stakeholders to improve reporting, drive efficiency and enhance decision-making.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Identifying opportunities to streamline processes through automation, standardisation and improved controls.
• Contributing to finance transformation programmes, including systems enhancements and process optimisation initiatives.

About You

You'll be a technically strong accountant who combines attention to detail with a commercial mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (desirable)
• Previous experience in management accounting, financial accounting or Record-to-Report environments.
• Proven leadership experience, including coaching and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reporting standards and month-end processes.
• Experience operating within a large, multi-entity or complex business environment.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with ERP and finance systems.
• The ability to influence stakeholders, challenge constructively and build strong relationships across the business.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a track record of improving finance processes.
