Position summary

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor of nutrition/food science. The department is seeking a highly qualified and motivated full-time faculty member who is committed to innovative teaching, research, program development, academic advising, and institutional and community service. Prospective candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in nutrition, food science, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have a proven publication track record in top tier journals alongside the ability to attract grant funding and is expected to teach a variety of courses.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition, dietetics, and/or food science.

Advise undergraduate and graduate students.

Supervise theses and capstone projects.

Build a strong research program and attract external funding.

Contribute to curriculum development.

Contribute to the strategic plan of the department.

Engage in service to the department, the school, the university, and the profession.

Additional duties may be set by the department in light of departmental needs and priorities.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in nutrition, food science, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.

Evidence of an established research agenda.

Evidence of full-time, successful university teaching.

Licensed Dietitian (LD) or Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is a plus.

The department

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science is one of the departments of the School of Arts and Sciences at LAU. The department offers a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Combined Program in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Dietetic Internship program, and a Minor in Nutrition, a Minor in Food Innovation and Management, and an MS in Nutrition.
