Role Purpose

The Logistics Manager oversees and drives all aspects of end-to-end local warehouse operations, inbound/outbound logistics execution, inventory accuracy and trade compliance for LAPP Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. The role leads the local warehouse team and operational staff while serving as the regional logistics subject matter expert (SME) to establish best practices, drive local operational performance, and accelerate the adoption of smart, AI- and tech-driven warehouse automation technologies across APAC operating sites.

Key Accountabilities

  • Workplace Safety & Team Leadership: Foster a strong culture of workplace safety, operational discipline, quality control, and continuous capability building. Directly manage, coach, and develop warehouse executives and operational staff.
  • Warehouse & Order Fulfillment Management: Oversee daily inbound receiving, putaway, picking, packing, and dispatch operations. Optimize warehouse layouts and storage density to maximize capacity utilization and ensure rapid retrieval.
  • Trade Compliance & Governance: Ensure full operational compliance across import, export, and foreign trade activities in accordance with local customs regulations, trade agreements, and global market sanctions.
  • Smart Warehouse & Tech-Driven Automation: Lead the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of smart warehouse solutions, automated material handling equipment, and AI-driven WMS/TMS tools to elevate operational efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Inventory Control & Traceability: Enforce FIFO principles, serial/batch traceability, and rigorous cycle count and stocktake cadences to achieve high inventory accuracy across storage locations. Investigate and resolve discrepancies using root-cause analysis.
  • 5S & Operational Excellence: Enforce 5S methodology, safety compliance, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and continuous improvement frameworks across all warehouse and logistics workflows.
  • Local KPI Governance & Performance Excellence: Track, govern, and report monthly local operational KPIs (such as customer service rate, inventory accuracy, labor productivity, and safety compliance). Drive a culture of continuous improvement across local warehouse operations to systematically identify gaps, streamline workflows, and achieve operational performance excellence.
  • Data-Driven & Predictive Logistics Analytics: Leverage WMS/TMS analytics, IoT tracking, and predictive AI tools to forecast warehouse workload, optimize labor, spatial capacity and proactively manage operational bottlenecks.
  • Cost Management & Value Creation: Identify and execute continuous cost-reduction initiatives in warehousing, packaging, and freight without compromising service quality or safety standards.
  • Cross-Functional & Cluster Alignment: Partner closely with Sales, Customer Service, Material Planning & Execution (MPE), Sourcing, Finance, and regional affiliate logistics teams to streamline material flow and meet customer service commitments.

Expected Deliverables / Performance Indicators

  • Full adherence to trade compliance, customs regulations, and global market sanctions with zero operational non-compliance penalties.
  • High inventory record accuracy via cycle counting and systematic stock audit controls.
  • On-time and error-free fulfillment for domestic and regional outbound dispatches.
  • Successful deployment and operational uptake of smart warehouse technologies, automation solutions, and AI/digital tools.
  • Optimized warehouse storage utilization and reduced unit cost of fulfillment/handling.
  • Timely, accurate monthly reporting of local logistics KPI scorecards and continuous improvement milestones toward operational excellence.
  • Strong compliance with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), 5S standards, and internal audit requirements.
  • Highly motivated, well-trained, and multi-skilled warehouse operations team.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on experience in warehouse and logistics management, leading operational teams and executives. Industry background in Industrial Automation, Electrical/Electronic Components, Cable & Harnessing Assembly, or Machinery/Equipment is highly preferred.
  • Trade Compliance & Customs Knowledge: Sound knowledge and practical experience in customs procedures, trade compliance, and import/export documentation across the APAC region is preferred.
  • Smart Warehouse Expertise: Proven track record in implementing or operating Smart Warehouse solutions, automated material handling systems, and modern digital logistics workflows is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on proficiency with SAP ERP (S/4HANA MM/WM/EWM modules), WMS, and TMS applications. Familiarity with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) and AI-driven warehouse/logistics analytics is a strong advantage.
  • Operational Knowledge: Strong command of inventory control methodologies, 5S principles, customs processes, and workplace health and safety (WSH) standards.
  • Language & Communication: Fluency in written and spoken English with strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
