The Laboratoire national de santé is recruiting at 100% and for a fixed term a Genetic Counselor (M/F) Ref°372.
The Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) is a public establishment under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, the LNS consists of four diagnostic departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, and health protection. It also hosts two national centers, one in the field of Pathology and the other in the field of Genetics. All activities are supported by support services forming the administrative and financial department.
The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis, and surveillance of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to perform medico-legal tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization, and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analysis laboratories. As part of its responsibilities, the LNS also conducts research and teaching activities in collaboration with Luxembourgish and foreign partners.
Equipped with a modern infrastructure in line with recent developments in medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory whose innovative projects strengthen its expertise in public health.
National Center of Genetics
The National Center of Genetics (NCG) of the LNS has the mission of providing genetic counseling and the diagnosis of genetic diseases and performing molecular and genetic analysis of cancers.
The National Center of Genetics is composed of 3 services:

Your activities
Participate in the genetic counseling consultation activity within the Service de Génétique Clinique of the Laboratoire National de Santé; Accompany patients and their families through their diagnostic journey and follow-up. The activity will concern the different aspects of genetic counseling: rare diseases, predictive genetic counseling, preconception, prenatal diagnosis, and oncogenetics. This activity will be carried out under the supervision of the medical geneticists of the Centre National de Génétique; Participate in Multidisciplinary Concertation Meetings, as well as in the coordination and follow-up of files with medical geneticists, genetic counselors, hospitals, laboratories, referring clinicians, and other professionals concerned; Participate in informing patients regarding the indications, modalities, limits, and implications of genetic analyses, in compliance with the ethical, legal, and deontological framework; Invest in the development, structuring, and continuous improvement of the genetic counseling activity; Contribute, according to the needs of the service, to the development of procedures, information documents, and tools intended to improve and harmonize genetic counseling practices.
Desired profile
A Master 2 level training in Genetic Counseling meeting the eligibility criteria for the professional qualification of Genetic Counselor in Luxembourg, in accordance with the law of December 17, 2025, regarding the practice of the profession of genetic counselor; An authorization to practice the profession of genetic counselor in Luxembourg issued by the Ministry of Health; Previous professional experience of at least two years, including diversified consultation activity in genetic counseling, notably in the fields of rare diseases and oncogenetics; An excellent ability to conduct consultations with clarity and pedagogy, including in complex clinical situations; An aptitude to ensure the follow-up of medical files in a rigorous and methodical manner, and to work in a multidisciplinary team; A capacity to conduct consultations in at least one official language of Luxembourg as well as in English; Obtaining certification in Genetic Counseling from the European Board of Medical Genetics is considered an advantage.
