Mango & Citrus Production Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities A. Technical & Horticultural Management (Mango & Citrus) Pruning & Canopy Management: Engineering and field oversight of winter and summer pruning operations for both citrus and mango trees to ensure optimal aeration, sunlight penetration, and fruit-bearing stimulation.

Flowering & Fruit Set Management: Monitor blooming, pollination, and fruit set stages, deploying appropriate biological or hormonal treatments as needed to enhance retention rates and minimize drop (especially critical for climate-sensitive mangoes and citrus).

Specialized Irrigation & Fertilization: Formulate and implement customized soil and foliar fertilization programs and irrigation schedules tailored to specific crop varieties and tree maturity stages, accounting for vegetative growth, flowering, fruit bulking, and post-harvest recovery.

B. Specialized Pest & Disease Control Continuous monitoring and scouting to detect orchard-specific pests (such as aphids, thrips, leaf miners, mites, and sooty mold in citrus; powdery mildew, scale insects, and midges in mangoes).

Execute Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs at optimal timings to safeguard fruits from blemishes or infestations that compromise export standards.

C. Harvest & Post-Harvest Management Determine exact maturity and harvesting indices for various citrus varieties (oranges, mandarins, lemons, grapefruit) and mango types (e.g., Owais, Zebdeya, Keitt, Yasmina).

Supervise careful manual harvesting to minimize bruising, initial grading, field packing, and safe transport of produce to cold storage or export packing houses.

D. Planning & Administrative Control Prepare annual budgets and cost projections dedicated to mango and citrus orchard maintenance, comparing actual expenditures against targets.

Manage technical and seasonal labor, allocating them across orchard blocks to ensure critical operational windows (such as pruning and harvest seasons) are met on time.

Submit regular reports to senior management concerning tree health, yield forecasts, and seasonal market developments.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (Horticulture / Pomology major) or post-graduate studies specialized in evergreen fruit trees.

Work Experience: 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience exclusively managing mango and citrus production across large-scale commercial farms (experience in newly reclaimed desert lands is strongly preferred).

Technical Skills: Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of mango and citrus physiology, bearing habits, and their distinct climatic and nutritional requirements.

Advanced expertise in modern fruit tree irrigation systems (drip irrigation, filtration, and fertigation injection).

Comprehensive familiarity with global quality standards and Good Agricultural Practices (GlobalG.A.P.) required for fruit export.

Personal Skills: High agility in making rapid field decisions related to weather fluctuations and their impact on blooming and fruit setting.

Excellent leadership and supervisory skills to manage horticulture engineers, field technicians, and farm labor.

Acute observational skills and meticulous attention to fine agricultural details that directly impact crop volume and grade.
