L'Oréal R&I - Advanced Research - Beauty Supplements Innovation Manager Within the R&I Advanced Research department, the New Frontiers of Science team shapes the future of beauty through cutting-edge science and holistic innovation. This position pilots our strategy in nutricosmetics and dietary supplements, linking advanced nutritional science, microbiota research, and skin/hair biology (notably the gut-skin/hair axis) to create revolutionary oral and topical solutions offering unprecedented performance leaps to consumers.

Missions

  1. Scientific anchoring - innovation strategy - vision
  • Identify untapped market opportunities by crossing beauty consumer needs and scientific advances in nutrition to implement the nutricosmetic active innovation strategy by capitalizing on all internal and external ecosystems; this aligned with the R&I and Group strategy.
  • Establish scientific rationales for topical and oral routes as well as their synergies to meet brand needs and achieve a skin/hair benefit performance leap never achieved before.
  • Ensure prospective monitoring of emerging ingredients, dosages, administration modes (gummies, powders, capsules, shots) as well as regulatory evolutions.
  1. Screening, Technological Acceleration, Efficacy Demonstration, market transformation steering
  • Pilot and coordinate multidisciplinary teams involved in scouting, design, digital screening (predictive tools, AI) coupled with a biological/clinical in vitro/in vivo screening architecture to identify the best solutions (ingredients, bacterial strains, plant extracts, synergies while integrating regulatory constraints, costs, timelines...) most relevant for market launch.
  • Demonstrate the scientific added value of proposed beauty supplements at the molecular and cellular levels, including the GUT-SKIN axis to support innovative and high-performance "Beauty Supplements" concepts with perceptible skin/hair benefits for consumers.
  • Pilot an ambitious IP strategy allowing for the preemption of high value-added technologies.
  • Demonstrate the performance leap and efficacy of oral formulas (in addition to topical formulas) perceived by consumers.
  • Propose the implementation of new ways to innovate including the activation of all internal and external ecosystems, to feed an innovation pipeline (short term and long term) aligned with business needs and market reality.
  • Act as guarantor for the anticipation and securing of key transformation milestones, including industrialization and the economic equation related to efficacy to facilitate market launch.
  • Secure global regulatory compliance, claims by deployment country, and the robustness of safety files for proposed ingredients/strains/extracts.

Profile Sought

Dual Scientific and Business training related to the dietary supplements market: PhD or Scientific Master's in Nutrition/Health (including Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology) completed by significant training or experience in Business / Innovation Management.

Experience

  • 7 to 10 years minimum experience in the dietary supplements industry in an interface role (Applied R&D, Scientific Brand Support, Scientific Innovation Project Manager).
  • Successful experience in end-to-end launches of dietary supplements on the market is indispensable.
  • Proven experience in alliance management and external partnership management.

Key Skills

  • Very fine and proven knowledge of the complete process from idea to market launch of dietary supplements in all its dimensions (scientific rationale, ingredient novelty, regulatory, IP, scaling up, claims, costs, essential partners...).
  • Excellent scientific culture regarding the microbiota, nutrition, skin biology, and hair biology.
  • Key scientific knowledge on ingredients/dietary supplements and GUT microbiome (knowledge of the GUT-SKIN/HAIR axis is indispensable).
  • Perfect knowledge of the market state of the art (players and ingredients). Great sensitivity to the performance leap brought by Science.
