Technical Manager | E-commerce & Digital Transformation

For a leading, international distribution group focusing on energy-efficient technical insulation solutions and HVAC-R products, I am looking for an experienced IT leader. With an active presence in more than twenty countries and a strong buy-and-build strategy, this dynamic organization achieves impressive revenue in the market. To realize an ambitious digital transformation within the key business unit and triple online revenue within three years, the group is fully committed to a complete e-commerce replatforming to a modern, future-proof architecture.

Within this strategic leadership position, the right professional will have the unique opportunity to fully shape the technical vision and the delivery of this new headless platform. There will be close collaboration with an external consulting partner in a mixed-team model, where the focus lies on building sustainable technical competencies internally. This is a hands-on role in which the technical architecture is laid out, a new internal engineering team is built, and a large-scale, multi-country rollout is managed.

What will your package of tasks look like?

• You will drive the architecture and the delivery of the new headless e-commerce platform to replace the current, custom-built stack.
• You will critically manage the collaboration with the integration partner and ensure that the mixed-team model effectively leads to internal capacity building.
• You will structure and lead a phased, international rollout of the platform across more than fifteen European markets, with an initial launch before the end of 2026.
• You will design stable integrations and real-time, API-driven data flows between the commerce layer, D365 F&O, the PIM system, and the middleware.
• You will build and coach a brand-new, internal engineering team of approximately four developers who will independently manage and further develop the platform in the long term.

What do we expect from you?

• You have at least 10 years of relevant experience and a proven track record in leading complex B2B e-commerce platform projects or replatformings within distribution or wholesale.
• You have in-depth knowledge of headless and composable architectures, API-first design, and modern JavaScript or TypeScript stacks such as Node.js and React or Next.js.
• You possess strong experience with complex integration landscapes, ERP systems (ideally D365 F&O), middleware, and managing external consultancy parties.
• You have a fluent command of English, with good knowledge of Dutch, French, or German considered a significant plus.
• You are an active user of AI-driven development tools and possess the necessary skills to lead a small, senior engineering team in a result-oriented manner.
