Order Picker (M/F)
Job Duties
Oxygenated organic radicals are important drivers of chemistry in many systems, such as the metabolism of living organisms, polymerization, combustion systems, and the natural environment (Earth's atmosphere). However, few techniques can detect them today. We are seeking a motivated researcher to develop and apply a mass spectrometric technique (proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry, PTr-MS) for the detection of individual oxygenated organic radicals in air, within the prestigious European Research Council (ERC)-Advanced project EPHEMERAL. The work will involve the characterization and optimization of a state-of-the-art Time-of-flight mass spectrometer (PTr-MS) and the use of other instruments to detect these radicals in the laboratory and in the air. This position will be within the Nozière group at the Department of Chemistry at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm.
Qualifications
Requirements
- A completed doctoral degree or a foreign degree in chemistry, physics, or a suitable field deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than when the employment decision is made.
- documented experimental experience with gas flow systems
- a background or experience in standalone mass spectrometry (not connected to a chromatograph),
- excellent written and oral communication skills in English, as required in daily work.
- strong problem-solving skills
- self-motivated, detail-oriented, and goal-oriented
- able to work both independently and in collaboration with a team
Merit
- At the application deadline, having completed a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to correspond to a doctoral degree no more than three years ago.
- experience in instrument development,
- a background or experience in Chemical Ionization mass spectrometry (CIMS), Proton Transfer Mass Spectrometers (PTr-MS) or Time-Of-Flight (TOF) mass spectrometry,
- knowledge of atmospheric chemistry or gas phase kinetics.
