We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic assistant professor for the ‘Allergic Inflammation’ Group at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Centre for a two-year position starting from January 1, 2027.

The Assistant Professor should have a strong background in Adaptive and Innate Immunity and its role in inflammatory diseases including allergy and autoimmunity.

Our research The Allergic Inflammation Group analyses the development of allergic diseases including atopic dermatitis, asthma, rhinitis and food allergy and tries to elucidate the genetic, cellular and molecular mechanisms of sensitisation. The group values teamwork and an interdisciplinary approach to discovery and has extensive local and international networks. We are a diverse team of researchers with interests in several areas but bound by an excitement to understand the basic principles of immune function.

Your job

The role of Assistant Professor is very important for the team. We are looking for someone who has knowledge in our core areas of research and someone that can contribute to the team environment in several ways including in implementing independent research projects and in contributing to those of others in the group. The applicant should have led research projects in the past and demonstrate an ability to lead new diverse teams of researchers. A broad expertise in cellular and molecular immunology in the laboratory would be beneficial.

The assistant professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

research, including publication/academic dissemination duties research-based teaching sharing knowledge with students as part of the Masters education program participation in formal pedagogical training programme for assistant professors

Furthermore, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

You have a PhD in Immunology You are highly experienced in mouse models of skin and lung inflammation, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and other immunohistochemistry techniques. You have an active interest in allergy, autoimmunity, microbial influences on disease You have pre- and postgraduate teaching experience within Immunology. Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams Excellent English skills written and spoken A strong publication record and record of presenting your work at national and international meetings. Other basic lab techniques including ELISAs, cloning, RNA isolation and qPCR. Desirable experience and skills:

Mouse models of infection including nematode infection, bacteria, viruses, and natural infectious models. Experience in teaching and mentorship Experience with grant applications

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Centre, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and access to state-of-the-art flow cytometry facilities, a core imaging facility, single cell and spatial RNA-Sequencing facilities and a large animal facility, which operates at several barrier levels.

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The start date is January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 39,993 DKK/approx. 5,350 EUR (August 2026 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
