Your tasks
We are a globally active corporate group in the food industry with around 5,700 employees, employed at the headquarters in Bergisch Gladbach as well as in subsidiaries at various production sites at home and abroad. In our plant in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne, with over 1,400 employees, we produce instant tea, cappuccino, coffee preparations, cocoa-based beverage powders, vitamin tablets, sweeteners, and pharmaceuticals.
Shape the future of our packaging As a (Senior) Packaging Developer (m/f/d), you will take on a key role in the development of innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for our products. You will work interdisciplinary with Purchasing, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Production, and external partners – from the idea to implementation. Furthermore, as Deputy Head (m/f/d) of Packaging Development, you will gradually take on leadership responsibility. The goal is to take over the extensive know-how of the current job holder and perspectively take over the management of the department.

- You develop new, sustainable packaging solutions for our brand and private label products and optimize our existing packaging portfolio from technical, economic, and ecological perspectives
- You work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Production, and our suppliers
- You continuously observe and analyze the packaging market regarding innovations, recyclability, sustainability, cost developments, and customer requirements
- You ensure professional project management – including the creation, control, and monitoring of project plans
- You coordinate closely with Production and Engineering to design packaging processes that are efficient and future-proof
- You coordinate the creation of prototypes in cooperation with suppliers and external service providers
- As Deputy Head (m/f/d), you actively support the technical management of the team and successively take on strategic and operational management tasks
Requirements

- You have successfully completed technical training in the field of packaging development, packaging technology, or a comparable qualification
- You bring several years of experience in product and project management, ideally in the consumer goods, food, or retail industry
- You possess a strong technical understanding as well as good spatial reasoning
- You enjoy the further development of FMCG products and have a good sense for packaging trends and market requirements
- You are strong in communication, assertive, and feel comfortable in diverse areas of responsibility
- You have good conceptual skills and think in a solution-oriented manner
- You are proficient in using MS Office, ideally bring SAP knowledge, and quickly familiarize yourself with new systems
- You are proficient in English, both written and spoken
- You bring a high degree of teamwork – initial leadership experience is desirable
