About the position
The section for artificial intelligence and applied technology at Kripos works to develop new solutions and methods for use in crime fighting. The section is multidisciplinary and works to establish new capabilities within investigation and intelligence, as well as to streamline these areas through the use of artificial intelligence. Additionally, the section collaborates closely with other national and international actors regarding AI.
As an AI developer, you will actively assist in cases and contribute to new solutions and methods within investigation and intelligence, as well as work long-term with AI platforms and services. The section is also involved in various academic research projects, and there will be opportunities to contribute to these. The section is located within the Electronic Evidence Section (E-spor), which is one of five sections in the National Cybercrime Center (NC3) department. The section's main purpose is to develop new methods and tools to secure, read, interpret, and analyze electronic traces and evidence to assist and support professional environments and investigations. The section is among the leaders in Europe within the field and participates in several international method development projects and cooperation forums.
In the role of AI developer, you will contribute to the Police's important societal mission, while working at the forefront of technological development. You will work in a multidisciplinary team where you will contribute to the design, development, and quality assurance of specialized AI-based solutions to be used in investigation and intelligence. This requires solid analytical and technical skills and a good ability to work in a large and complex organization, with high requirements for accountability. You will also contribute to the coordination of the section's work regarding machine learning and artificial intelligence across Kripos, the agency, and with other national and international partners.

What we are looking for in a new employee
We are looking for you who have solid experience in the development of AI solutions and who are able to see solutions where others see problems. You must be both structured and analytical, and at the same time have a creative approach to problem-solving. You are able to work independently at a high pace and with new challenges, while you must also be a team player and thrive in collaboration. It is assumed that you have a good understanding of your role.
Personal suitability, educational results, and motivation for the field will be emphasized. Kripos follows crime development, and it is therefore a prerequisite that you are flexible regarding areas of responsibility, tasks, and organization.
As an employee at Kripos, there is the possibility of working from home, but as a preparedness organization, there is an expectation of physical presence several days a week. Kripos' working language is Norwegian, and it is a prerequisite that the person hired masters Norwegian, both orally and in writing. Some travel must be expected.

- develop techniques, methods, and capabilities for artificial intelligence
- develop applications and services to make artificial intelligence available
- analyze data and create solutions that respond to information needs in criminal cases
- further development and operation of existing solutions
- detect and identify AI needs among other professional environments at Kripos
- be responsible for training in AI and the capabilities we develop
- contribute to research projects
Qualifications
You must have the following to be qualified:
- relevant education from a university or college at minimum master's level, within technical-scientific subjects
- at least 3 years of experience in a role as a developer or equivalent
- experience with the development and implementation of AI solutions. Including generative AI and AI agents, large language models, prompt engineering, and RAG
- experience with analysis and processing of large amounts of data
- good programming skills, preferably in Python
- very good language skills in Norwegian and English
It is also desirable to have:
- experience with container technology and microservices
- experience with AI-based audio, image, and video processing
- experience with academic research
You must have a clean criminal record and be suitable for service to be employed in the police. An exhaustive and extended police certificate shall be obtained and presented before any employment. When assessing whether you are suitable for service in the police, information about you may be obtained from the police registers. The person hired for the position must satisfy the requirements for security clearance SECRET.
