About the position

The Intelligence and Assessment Section at the National Cybercrime Center (NC3) at Kripos is seeking an investigator to uncover and prevent cybercrime. The section receives information about cybercrime from internal and external, as well as national and international sources. The section works proactively to identify victimized businesses and prevent data breaches. Based on the intelligence gathered and received, you will initiate preliminary investigations, which include identifying, enriching, investigating, assessing, and disseminating information. When necessary, you will assist with initial investigative steps in cases within the section.

The National Cybercrime Center (NC3) is a department within Kripos and is the national center for the prevention, detection, and combatting of serious and organized crime in the digital space. NC3 is to assist the Norwegian police in specific investigations and further develop specialized expertise within the cyber domain, and consists of approximately 150 dedicated employees.

Kripos follows developments in the crime landscape, and flexibility regarding tasks and organization is a prerequisite. Some travel must be expected. Personal suitability and motivation will be emphasized.

What we are looking for in a new employee

The tasks are varied, and we are looking for an independent and responsible employee who collaborates well with their colleagues. It is important that you have good execution skills, are structured, and ensure good documentation in our work systems. To succeed in the position, it is crucial that you have the ability to make independent and well-considered assessments in the processing of information. A part of the working language in this field is English. Necessary training will be provided after commencement.

Tasks

• uncover, collect, and enrich information related to cybercrime cases, with subsequent exploration of digital trace possibilities
• process information from national and international channels
• staff NC3's duty function, which involves receiving, registering, responding to, and making inquiries and information available to NC3
• participate in relevant internal and external professional groups/meeting forums nationally and internationally
• other tasks within the section's area of responsibility must be expected

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must have:

• passed an exam from Politi(høg)skolen
• experience with investigation
• knowledge of cybercrime
• relevant experience with the use of open sources on the internet
• good technical understanding of computers, including how the internet is connected and functions
• good oral and written expression in English

Desirable requirements

• relevant courses within the field of open source intelligence (OSINT)
• knowledge of one or more of the following areas: IP investigations and IP tracking, the dark web, and/or cybercrime investigation

Kripos follows the competence criteria for positions as police officer 1, 2, and 3. To qualify for PB2, 3 years of experience after PHS is required, and for PB3, 6 years of experience is required. Exceptions can be made for police officers who already qualify for the position code as a result of faster promotion as an investigator.

You must have a clean criminal record and be fit for service to be employed in the police. An exhaustive and extended police certificate will be obtained before any employment. In the assessment of whether you are fit for service in the police, information about you may be obtained from the police registers. You must be able to be security cleared to HEMMELIG.

About the employer:

Kripos is the police's national competence center in the fight against organized and other serious crime. We provide assistance to the police districts and have specialized expertise in, among other things, tactical investigation, forensics, electronic traces, special investigative methods, criminal intelligence, and analysis. We are also the data controller for the police's central registers and the national contact point for international police cooperation. The national forensic laboratory is also located at Kripos.
