As a Book Advisor (Storekeeper & Cashier), you will play a role in creating a warm and pleasant shopping experience for customers by helping them find the right books and providing deep and personal recommendations. This position demands strong knowledge of books, genres, literacy trends, as well as a high interest in the world of books, because a Book Advisor does not only serve customers, but also builds engagement with products authentically and with passion.
Main tasks include managing sales transactions, ensuring stock availability, and supporting various store programs and campaigns. This role also requires good communication skills to build relationships with customers, convey book information engagingly, and increase customer loyalty. Additionally, you will work together with the team in managing daily store operations, preparing event needs, and ensuring the purchasing process runs smoothly according to procedures, from book displays to transactions at the cashier.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Customer Advisory
Serve customers warmly and create a pleasant shopping experience.
Provide deep book recommendations based on customer preferences to build loyalty.
Use engaging communication skills to convey book information and increase customer interaction.
Product and Inventory Management
Master the available book collection and understand current literacy trends to provide valuable insights to customers.
Ensure book stock availability and report restocking needs so that customers always get the products they are looking for.
Network with the team and management to develop attractive book display strategies that align with promotions.
Store Operations
Manage sales transactions and ensure payments run smoothly according to SOP.
Ensure customer purchases are conducted orderly and efficiently, from display to cashier.
Compile daily reports regarding team performance and customer experience for service evaluation.
Identify and resolve store operational constraints with a solution-oriented and efficient approach.
Store Programmes and Collaboration with Team to Reach Success
Communicate with the team to collect feedback and ideas for service improvement.
Support the implementation of store programs or campaigns to increase customer engagement and store attractiveness.
Adjust promotion strategies and store events based on trends and customer needs.
Education & Experience:
Experience in retail, preferably in the book or literacy industry.
Involvement in organizations or communities related to books, literacy, or customer service is an added value.
Experience in customer service, product recommendation, or sales is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
Broad knowledge of books, genres, literacy trends, as well as publishers and authors.
Ability to recommend books based on customer preferences in an informative and engaging manner.
Basic understanding of English to understand various literature and imported books.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva.
Nice to have skills: Ability to manage and create social media content and/or ability to manage activities (events) and collaborate with communities to ensure the success of activities.
