General Counsel
Kogan.com is seeking a General Counsel to lead the legal, regulatory and governance function across the Kogan Group. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a lawyer who can give sharp, practical advice at pace and act as a trusted partner to the business. The role is open to lawyers from a range of backgrounds, including in-house lawyers ready to step up and lawyers with at least four years' post-qualification experience at a top-tier firm. Prior in-house or Deputy General Counsel experience is not required. This is a rare opportunity for someone with commercial acumen and hunger to access the full spectrum of legal work at an ASX-listed business: from product compliance and marketing review, through commercial contracts and regulatory matters, to M&A transactions and coordination of the Board of Directors. Working closely with the Directors, you'll be the principal internal legal sounding board for the business, and you'll brief and manage multiple external law firms across regulatory compliance, commercial transactions and everything in between. We want a General Counsel who doesn't advise from the sidelines, but gets close to the commercial detail and helps us move quickly while managing risk sensibly. At Kogan.com, we move fast, challenge the status quo, and lean into the technology that has made us a household name. You'll be joining a high-performance environment where your advice directly shapes the trajectory of one of Australia's most iconic eCommerce retailers. If this sounds like you, apply today!
About you
- You will hold a law degree from a top law school, be admitted to practise as a lawyer in Australia, and combine strong legal capability with genuine commercial nous. Beyond that, each of the following would be a good attribute to bring:

- Working knowledge of the Australian Consumer Law, privacy and advertising regulation

- Experience advising on marketing and promotional material
- Exposure to company secretarial and governance matters, including ASX Listing Rules and continuous disclosure
- Exposure to M&A, including due diligence and transaction documentation
- The gravitas to work with directors and senior leaders, and the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely
