Education:

Bachelor's degree. Agricultural animal breeding. Animal health. Animal sciences, other. Veterinary/animal health technology/technician and veterinary assistant. or equivalent experience.

Work site environment:

Beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots. Livestock combination farming. Other miscellaneous crop farming. Livestock. Farm.

Work setting:

Rural area. Remote location.

Tasks:

• Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses.
• Develop specific plans to prioritize.
• Direct farm grooming activities .
• Handling animals.
• Monitor the calving process.
• Monitoring animal health.
• Organize tasks to accomplish the work.
• Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
• Maintain livestock performance records.
• Maintain quality control and production records.
• Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs.
• Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations.
• Maintain work records and logs.
• Hire and train staff.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• Perform general farm duties.

Supervision:

1 to 2 people.

Equipment and machinery experience:

• Fertilizer applicator.
