Kenneth Brian Associates are working with a friendly and purpose-driven charity based in Weybridge, Surrey , committed to making a positive difference to the people and communities they support.

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Finance Manager to join their team and take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the charity. This is an important role, providing accurate financial information and ensuring strong financial controls to support the charity's work and future development.

As Finance Manager, you will oversee the charity's financial operations, working closely with the Chief Executive, trustees and wider team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the charity's day-to-day finance function
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and financial systems
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts
  • Monitoring income and expenditure and providing financial analysis and advice
  • Managing cash flow and overseeing payments and receipts
  • Preparing financial information and reports for the Board of Trustees and relevant committees
  • Supporting the preparation of the annual budget and year-end accounts
  • Liaising with external accountants and auditors
  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures are in place
  • Managing payroll and pension administration, where applicable
  • Supporting grant and restricted-fund accounting and reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant charity, financial and regulatory requirements
  • Providing financial guidance and support to colleagues across the organisation

We are looking for someone who is confident managing finances independently and who understands the particular requirements of working within a charity.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a finance management or senior finance role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Experience preparing management accounts, budgets and forecasts
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Strong Excel and accounting-system skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues and trustees
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  • Experience of working within the charity sector and knowledge of charity accounting would be advantageous
  • A relevant accountancy qualification (such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA ) would be desirable, although QBE experience will also be considered.
